Army Chief General Naravane visits ARDE, reviews progress of defence projects

Army Chief General MM Naravane visited ARDE and Bharat Forge in Pune to witness progress made on defence-related projects. During his visit he also visited HQ - Southern Command and DG - Armament and Combat Engineering DRDO situated in Pashan, Pune.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General MM Naravane on Saturday visited Bharat Forge and Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), to witness the progress made in the defense-related projects for the Armed forces.

"General MM Naravane COAS visited Bharat Forge and Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune. He was briefed on various defence related projects as part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative," Army Southern Command tweeted.

General MM Naravane also visited the Director-General of Armament and Combat Engineering DRDO at Pashan, where he was briefed about the readiness of the various weapon system.

"General MM Naravane COAS visited the DG of Armament and Combat Engineering DRDO at Pashan. He was briefed about the readiness of ATAGs, JVPC, Arjun Tank Ammunition, Bridges, UGVs and High Energetic Materials based Tactical Weapons," DRDO said in a tweet.

On Friday, General Naravane had visited the headquarters of Pune-based Southern Command to get an update on various operational and training related issues.

The Army had said in a statement that General Naravane was also given an update on the contributions of troops of Southern Command in various humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in peninsular India this year, particularly towards assistance provided to civil administration for COVID-19 and floods.
