Madrassa Cleric Running Espionage Racket Arrested In J&K

Maulvi Wahid confessed that he used to capture the movement of police and army officials and send them to ISI officers, also provided information about the Indian Army personnel postings.

Indian security forces arrested a cleric from Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir amid his link with the terrorist organisation Kashmiri Jambaz Force.

According to the reports, he used to share intelligence-related information with his seniors sitting in Pakistan.

The police said that the conspiracy is designed by the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI to revive terrorism in Kistwar and Doda districts. In recent years, these two districts didn't see any major terrorist attacks.

Maulvi Abdul Wahid, 22 years old, was also preaching once a week to children in nearby madrassas and used to convince children to adore terrorism through his preaching, police said.

Wahid confessed in interrogation that he used to capture the movement of police and army officials and send them to ISI officers across the border in Pakistan.

He also provided information about the Indian Army personnel posted in Kishtwar, photographs of their officers, and their daily commute routes to the ISI officer. In return, he was getting a huge sum of money.

Apart from leaking the information, he was also involved in the planning of infiltration routes of terrorists into India. Now officials are trying to figure out his role in disturbing the communal harmony in the Kistwar.

He was also instructed to expand and strengthen the organisation by recruiting new people. After his arrest, the Jammu and Kashmir Police is trying to trace more people connected to his network. Indian security forces are on alert in Kishtwar since this incident.
