A military helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh in the Upper Siang district on Friday. District deputy commissioner Shasvat Saurabh said, we launched search and rescue efforts and dispatched teams to the crash scene. However, there are no additional details on the number of passengers or their condition yet.

The Superintendent of Police, Jummar Basar said that while the rescue personnel immediately rushed to the accident site, the crash occurred in an isolated location. The nearest village to the crash site is about 140 kilometres away from the district headquarters in Yingkiong and the journey to the crash scene takes many hours.

An Indian Army pilot was killed and another was injured earlier this month when a helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang, one of India's last points before China. More than 40 individuals, including former chief minister Dorjee Khandu, have died in six helicopter crashes in the north-eastern state since 2010.
