On the occasion of Navy Day, the Indian Navy spectacularly displayed its mighty combat prowess with an Operational Demonstration.

Droupadi Murmu, President of India and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was the chief guest at the event held at Visakhapatnam's Ramakrishna Beach.

This was the first Navy Day celebrated outside of New Delhi. Sailors aboard the submarine INS Sindhukeerthi and the sailing ship INS Tarangini, which circumnavigated the globe, greeted the President as they sailed past the venue.

The Navy commandos performed a slithering operation from the Sea King helicopter, followed by a demonstration of the combat skills of the Marcos (Marine Commandos), who demolished an oil rig after a rescue operation. The Hawk and the MiG 29 K aircraft were also on display. Missile Corvettes INS Khanjar, INS Kadmat and INS Kirch, as well as the Destroyer INS Delhi, Frigate INS Sahyadri and Destroyer INS Kochi were on display.

The commandos carried out a search and rescue mission by lowering themselves from the Naval helicopter Chetak and the Advanced Light Helicopter ALH Mach-3. Four helicopters then performed a precision landing on the warships anchored offshore.

Another attraction at the event was the firing of rockets from warships, as well as a fly-past by Naval aircraft. After performing a free fall from an aircraft, skydiver Anup Singh presented the President with a book titled “History of the Indian Navy.”

On the occasion, a special song about the Indian Navy was released, composed by the famous musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and penned by noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Shankar (Mahadevan) captivated the audience with a live performance, accompanied on stage by his partners Ehsaan, Loy and Joshi.

The President, Chief of Naval Staff and Union Minister of State for Defence joined the Navy officers, men and their families in applauding Shankar as he performed the song passionately. The Indian Navy Band provided instrumental backing for the song. Thousands of people gathered along the Vizag beach to witness the Navy Day celebrations were treated to a visual treat as the ships lined up in a formation were illuminated. The event was attended by Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt and others.

The President virtually inaugurated the National Open Air Range in Kurnool district and Bharat Electronics Limited's Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Nimmakuru, Krishna district.

She also dedicated over Rs 925 crore to National Highway projects, including the Rayachoti-Angallu section of the NH-340, a four-lane Road-over-Bridge on NH-205 and six-lane grade-separated structures on roads in Kurnool city, Dhone and service roads on NH-44.

She also laid the groundwork for widening the NH-342 Mudigubba-Puttaparthi stretch in the Sri Satya Sai district. Murmu also dedicated four Ekalavya Model Residential Schools in the state's Agency (tribal) areas.
