The Indian Air Force (IAF) will perform a spectacular show with about 80 aircraft to mark its 90th anniversary on Saturday in Chandigarh.

A large number of spectators are expected to attend the flypast over Sukhna Lake to see military aircraft like the Rafale, Su-30 and Mirage 2000 and their exciting formations. The flypast will be presided over by President Droupadi Murmu after the parade of the day. The defence minister, Rajnath Singh will also be present.

This year, the annual Air Force Day parade and flyover will be held in Chandigarh. The various aircraft's air display rehearsals have already begun. A new combat uniform will be unveiled on this year's IAF Day.

During the flypast, a variety of formations, including Akashganga, Ensign, Eklavya, Trishul, Mehar, Shamsher, Vajra, Sarang and Suryakiran, will be displayed by vintage and modern aircraft such as the Rafale, Prachand, Mi-35, Su-30, Jaguar, Mi-17, Chinook, Apache and Dakota.

However, certain formations are planned to take place prior to the President's arrival, others will happen once she has arrived at the event. The Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) "Prachand," introduced by the IAF on Monday, will also be on display. It was primarily created for mountain combat. Prachand will be one of the three aircraft in the flypast.

The first batch of five Rafale aircraft was admitted to the 17 Squadron "Golden Arrows" of the Indian Air Force in September 2020 after they arrived from France in July 2020 at the Ambala Air Force Station. Formations will also contain the "Sekhon" designation, honouring IAF Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Sekhon, who received the Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
