India-US Defence Relationship Is Critically Important: Pentagon

Pentagon spokesperson, Ryder also said that we will certainly make an announcement when we have something to announce, but we already collaborate and engage on a variety of fronts, including through mechanisms such as the Quad

The US has a critical defence relationship with India, according to the Pentagon.

“When it comes to security and defence cooperation, the United States and India have a very important relationship. As a result, we look forward to continuing to work with the Indian leadership,” Pentagon Press Secretary Gen Pat Ryder told reporters at a press conference.

Ryder also said that we will certainly make an announcement when we have something to announce, but we already collaborate and engage on a variety of fronts, including through mechanisms such as the Quad. So we look forward to doing so again in 2023.

India, Japan, Australia, and the United States comprise the Quad. The group first met on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2007. It is regarded as an alliance of maritime democracies, with meetings, semi-annual summits, information exchanges and military drills held by all member countries.

Recently, the four Quad foreign ministers confirmed their commitment to addressing the global threat of ransomware as part of the Quad's practical efforts and concurred to hold the next Quad foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi early this year.
