Japan Should Be Cautious In Words, Deeds & Military Security: China

According to reports, the Japanese Ministry of Defence has recently claimed China's defence budget is growing alarmingly, raising serious concerns for Japan and the international community

Amidst the ongoing global crisis and countries around the globe recoiling other’s militant capabilities, Tan Kefei, a spokesman at the Chinese defence ministry, said, “the Japanese country should be cautious in its words and deeds in matters of military security, and stop harming regional peace and stability”.

Kefei remarked on Thursday following a Japanese politician's irresponsible statement regarding China's defence budget.

According to reports, the Japanese Ministry of Defence has recently claimed China's defence budget is growing alarmingly, raising serious concerns for Japan and the international community.

It added it would urge China to be more transparent about its defence policy and military affairs.

Commenting on the matter, Tan refuted the Japanese accusation and said, China is committed to the path of peaceful development and follows a national defence policy that is defensive in nature.

He said our defence expenditure is open and transparent within a reasonable and appropriate level.

The spokesperson stressed that the Chinese military is a loyal force protecting the world’s peace and stability.

We are serving to build a community with a shared future for mankind and our vision is widely recognised in the international community, and the recent irresponsible remarks from Japan are either subjective or not fact-based and driven by ulterior motives, Tan added.

He further emphasised that China's limited defence expenditure is responsible for safeguarding security, national sovereignty and other developmental interests, and for maintaining regional peace and stability.

He said Japan’s comment has been playing up the so-called "external threat" in recent years, and the country itself has substantially increased its defence budget and has kept developing and buying advanced offensive weapons developing future regional tensions.

He reiterated that the country which is pointing at us itself has the tendency to resume the path of militarization which is dangerous and deserves high vigilance from the international community and countries in the region.

The spokesperson further urged the Japanese to overlook the history and act cautiously in the field of military security and stop undermining regional peace and stability.
