Pentagon comments after India participates in a military exercise involving Russia and China

The Pentagon dismissed questions about the recent multinational military exercise involving Russia, India and China, saying that the United States (US) has very close defence ties with India. 

Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder in a press conference said, “India is a sovereign nation. With whom he has to conduct military exercises, he can decide for himself. We have certainly appreciated our partnership with India in this area."

Ryder added that have a very close partnership and relations with India, especially in the defence sector. We will certainly continue to work with India and further strengthen bilateral ties.

The Vostok military exercise was conducted from 1 to 7 September at various locations in Russia's Far Eastern region amid Moscow's special military operation in Ukraine. Many countries including India and China took part in it.
